She converts the template of the application Instagram into a three-dimensional artefact. She deconstructs its structure considering repetition and the mechanism of posting. Repetition plays an important role in this work as she addresses the issue of the recurring actions of liking and scrolling. As if more likes represent more truth. Stéphanie Baechler (b. 1983) is a Swiss artist based in Amsterdam. Baechler is trained as textile and fashion designer with a Master’s degree from the ArtEZ Academy of the Arts in the Netherlands, and worked as a textile developer & design assistant for Hussein Chalayan in London. Baechler’s work investigates fashion’s formal and structural vocabulary, its production process and its complex relationship to the body, the self and the society. For some years now and after two residencies at the EKWC (European Ceramic Work Centre, NL), her quest is slightly moving-away from fashion towards an artistic approach to sculpture and installations.
