SWARM

SWARM
An exhibition of works by artists based at ISO
ISO — New Space
Amsterdam Art Week
SWARM brings together a large selection of works by artists based at ISO, presented in ISO’s new space next door. The exhibition marks a moment of movement and expansion for the community, opening up a new environment for artists and their work to come together.
Like a swarm entering a new environment, SWARM offers a glimpse into the vitality, diversity and eclecticism of a community in constant movement and production. Across ISO’s studios, artists work with ceramics, wood, metal, glass, painting, drawing, video, sound, performance and other forms of experimentation. These practices coexist, overlap and occasionally transform one another, without belonging to a single aesthetic or medium.

... more about the exhibition
The richness of this ecosystem also emerges through encounters. Shared workshops and tools, conversations, collaborations and exchanges of knowledge create connections between artists, disciplines and ways of working. Experimentation develops through curiosity, trial and error, dialogue and the unexpected.
In SWARM, individual works retain their distinct identities while becoming part of a larger, shifting composition. Together, they reflect the interconnected and constantly evolving ecosystem of ISO — a community shaped as much by its encounters and exchanges as by the works produced within it.
The exhibition also activates ISO’s new space as a place for gathering, taking a moment to reflect and witnessing the beauty of the collective: another environment within the ecosystem, opening up new possibilities for what can happen next.
The Saturday celebration also marks the beginning of a broader collaboration between ISO and Dekmantel x Lentekabinet, two influential platforms shaping Amsterdam’s contemporary music and cultural landscape. It opens up new connections and possibilities between visual art and adventurous music.
